AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) includes all forms of communication—other than speech—used to express thoughts, needs, wants, and ideas. It helps individuals who have little or no functional speech due to various conditions such as autism, cerebral palsy, neurological disorders, or developmental delays.

AAC can be temporary or permanent, and it may involve gestures, picture boards, communication books, or high-tech speech-generating devices (SGDs).
